Through many events, and positive influences in his life, he became a follower of Christ, and developed a desire to become a physician. WOW... now he is the surgeon for Pioneer Christian Hospital in Impfondo, Republic of Congo serving thousands of people there. We had the privilege to work with him, learn from him, and boy did we learn. He is a great spiritual and medical leader. Here is a current update from him and his lovely family (Patience; his wife, Pepitue and Kelly; his daughters)
FUKA FOCUS
Are we conscious and grateful to what Christ has accomplished for us? If so, let’s show it through our love, our consecration and our obedience. “In the same way let our light shine before men, that they may see our good deeds and praise our father in heaven” Mat 5:16
Dry season is ending and now the raining season has become a reality. The Ubangui River has started to rise. Infectious cases are decreasing while trauma cases remain frequent, including an agricultural accident and several car accidents.
. Six of the twelve missionaries on our team left last week for Brazzaville to attend a retreat from 24th April to 1st May. We couldn’t afford to attend, but taking care of our patients was our responsibility and a priority.
In just seven weeks the Harveys will be leaving Impondo for the United States. Pioneer Christian Hospital needs another doctor to take care of medical patients during Dr. Harvey’s 3 months in his homeland. Can you imagine how heavy this responsibility will be for me, beginning in June?
In March I wrote you about Rodrigue, Kumu and the girl Alexandrine, whom God healed from multiple fractures and meningitis. All three are still improving.
During the first week in March a 24 year-old farmer named Junior was carried to our hospital from Boyele, a town 50 miles away. He was cutting a tree down to make a new field in the forest when a branch from the tree fell on his head. He had a closed fracture of the skull with displacement of the bones. For 2 weeks he remained in an agitated coma. There was no specific operation to do on him, so we prayed. Then he woke up! His first question was, “Why am in the hospital?” He started eating, talking and then walking. Then he accepted Jesus into his life. On Sunday, April 19 he came to our morning Chapel to glorify our Lord. Three days later he was discharged from the hospital. May God be praised! What a privilege that we could help him! Please continue to pray for Junior’s complete recovery.
Family
Patience’s uncle was diagnosed with cancer of the leg from a wound he received two years ago. Village treatments did not help him and the doctors who saw him said that it was too late for an amputation. Last week he was discharged home. Patience is feeling sad for him. Your prayers for him and for her comfort would be welcome.
In 10 weeks, school will be out and our son Laurent will be privileged to join us for his vacation. Please pray that he will do well on his second semester exams in June, and that God will enable him to return to Impfondo to be with us.
Requests for Prayer
1) Pray that God will use my surgical skills to help many here at PCH.
2) Pray that God will provide a Doctor to come and help me from June to September while Dr. Harvey is away.
3) Pray that God will heal Junior completely.
4) Pray that God will help us plan for our vacation this coming August and provide the money we will need for the trip.
5) Pray that God will provide a small, used car for our transportation needs here in Impfondo.
